It's Samba time! GlobalCharge launch Direct Carrier Billing in Brazil

Not only is Brazil the largest country in Latam and home to the world famous carnival, it’s also one of the fastest growing economies on earth and seeing and an explosion in mobile usage. By opening Brazil to Direct Carrier Billing based mobile payments, GlobalCharge merchants now have access to a strategic BRIC country with a population of over 200 million. In-App payment specialist GlobalCharge will support all the major Brazilian mobile operators ( Vivo, Claro, TIM and Oi ) and is currently in the process of rolling out subscription billing country-by-country. Currently, developers can start using recurring billing through mobile payments in 20 countries, among them France, UK, Germany, Mexico, Poland and others.

Brazil is the largest mobile market in Latam with 112 million mobile users. Smartphone penetration is increased from 26% to 29% in the period between 2013 to 2014, or a 11% year over year growth. According to a recent GSMA report smartphone numbers are expected to rise to over 41 million by the end of the year. Mobile internet connections also experienced a recent surge, with 72% of smartphone users alleging to make use of it on a daily basis.
